There was initially a suggestion that the band would be a four-piece including Jean-Pierre Barda from Army of Lovers, but this did not come to fruition, and Barda's explicit involvement extended only as far as co-writing BWO's first single "Living In A Fantasy" [1].
The name of the band derives from the philosophical term body without organs, developed by French philosopher Gilles Deleuze and psychoanalyst Félix Guattari in their 1972 book Anti-Œdipus. Bard, an author and lecturer of philosophy, has referred to the ideas of Deleuze in his books Netocracy - The New Power Elite And Life After Capitalism and The Global Empire, both co-written with Jan Söderqvist.
Musically, BWO have come to represent the more commercial side of the Swedish electro scene, also featuring artists like Robyn, The Knife, Jenny Wilson and September. Alexander Bard has claimed that BWO's electronic pop music is the missing link between ABBA and Kraftwerk [2].
Visually, BWO have been working with most of the high-brow Scandinavian music video directors, including Fredrik Boklund, Kalle Haglund and the award-winning Kamisol team. Like most of the other Swedish electro acts, BWO have been featured in hundreds of fashion articles, working closely on their visual style with their in-house Irish stylist Sally O'Sullivan.
BWO's debut album Prototype, first released in Russia in December 2004, generated seven Top 20 hit singles in Sweden and reached platinum status, with further success in Finland. Two singles off the album, "Living In A Fantasy" and "Sixteen Tons Of Hardware" went Number 1 in the Europa Plus Airplay Chart in Russia, and the album soon crossed over to neighboring countries, generating no less than five Top 5 hit singles in Ukraine and two Top 5 hit singles in Hungary. The track "Gone" was a Number 1 hit in Lebanon.
BWO's second album Halcyon Days, released in April 2006, entered the Swedish Album Chart at Number 1, shipping gold and generating four further hit singles, of which the first single "Temple Of Love" was a Number 1 smash in Sweden and charted across Scandinavia and Eastern Europe. The album has since generated a further three hit singles. Halcyon Days was followed by a remix collection called Halcyon Nights, released in December, 2006.
A third studio album, Fabricator, was released in Sweden on September 19, 2007, entering the Swedish charts at Number 6. A pre-release single "Save My Pride", was released in May 2007 and went Number 1 on major Turkish radio station Radio Mydonese's Top 40 Countdown in July 2007. The singles "Let it Rain" and "Rhythm Drives Me Crazy" were both released in August 2007. "Rhythm Drives Me Crazy" was chosen as the theme for the Swedish team in the Women's Football World Cup in China in September 2007. A fourth single "The Destiny Of Love" was released in October 2007 and a fifth single "Give Me The Night" was released at the end of December 2007.
The remixed 2005 single "Sunshine in the Rain" hit number 1 in the UK indie chart and just reached the UK Top 75 singles chart in March 2008, after being placed on the 'A list' for airplay by BBC Radio 2. Prior to that two of BWO's hit singles, "Sixteen Tons Of Hardware" and "Chariots Of Fire", had also reached the Top 10 of the British club charts.
A "greatest hits" album called Pandemonium was released on April 9, 2008. It contains all previous singles + 3 new songs: Lay Your Love On Me (their entry for Melodifestivalen 2008), Barcelona (second single) and The Bells Of Freedom (third single). A DVD by the same name, containing all video clips, will be released in the autumn of 2008.
Noteworthy is BWO's considerable success as a radio airplay act. According to Nielsen Music Control, Europe's leading airplay scanning company, BWO have had more international radio chart hits in continental Europe in the 21st century than any other act, with the exception of Robbie Williams. BWO were the most played act in total on Swedish radio both in 2005 and 2006.
BWO competed in the Swedish Melodifestivalen 2005 with the song "Gone", written by the band's co-producer Anders Hansson, but failed to qualify for the final, finishing fifth out of eight in one of the four semi-finals.
In 2006, they competed once again in Melodifestivalen with the song "Temple Of Love", this time qualifying for the final at Stockholm's The Globe Arena, where they finished second behind Carola. "Temple Of Love" went on to reach Number 1 in the Swedish singles chart, and has been assessed as the most internationally successful Melodifestivalen song from the 2006 competition.[3]
During 2007 BWO stated in interviews that they had no intention of returning to Melodifestivalen, but might consider instead seeking to enter Eurovision for Martin Rolinski's homeland of Poland.[4] However, there was a change of heart, and BWO entered Melodifestivalen for a third time in 2008 with a song called "Lay Your Love On Me". This was co-written by Bard and Hansson together with Bobby Ljunggren and Henrik Wikström, ironically the two composers who wrote Carola's winning song which beat BWO in 2006. Going into their semi-final as heavy bookmakers' favourites to qualify, [5] the song duly progressed directly to the final, held at Stockholm's The Globe Arena on 15 March 2008. The song finished in third place.
BWO won the prestigious Rockbjörnen award in both 2005 and 2006, voted Sweden's most popular band, all categories. In 2006 they received a Grammis Award for Sweden's most popular band of the year. BWO were nominated for four Grammis Awards in 2005 for the Prototype album and five Grammis Awards in 2006 for the Halcyon Days album. BWO were also nominated for dance act of the year in 2006 at the NRJ Scandinavian Awards in Helsinki and won the category for the most popular band.
Bodies Without Organs is an electronic pop group, formed in Sweden in 2004. Since early 2006 they have usually been presented under the shortened name BWO. Throughout their career they have enjoyed considerable commercial success and recognition in Scandinavia and Eastern Europe.

Britney Jean Spears (born December 2, 1981) is an American singer-songwriter, dancer and actress. Born in McComb, Mississippi and raised in Kentwood, Louisiana, Spears first appeared on national television as a contestant on the Star Search program in 1992 and went on to star on the television series The New Mickey Mouse Club from 1993-1994. After a brief membership with the pop musical group Innosense, Spears signed a recording contract with Jive Records, releasing her debut album ¡Baby One More Time in 1999 which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200.[1][2] The success of the album propelled Spears into stardom, establishing her as a pop icon and "bona fide pop phenomenon", credited for influencing the revival of teen pop in the late 1990s.[3]
The title-tract of Spears debut album and its accompanying music video also established her as a international sex symbol, garnering controversy over the influence of her public image on teenage girls.[3] Amidst further media scrutiny, Spears continued her career with three more consecutive number one studio albums; Oops!¡ I Did It Again (2000), Britney (2001), and In the Zone (2003).[4][5] Spears subsequently became the first artist in the history of Nielsen SoundScan to have four consecutive albums debut at number one. Spears's personal life began to gain substantial media attention after her marriage to Kevin Federline in 2004. Their marriage ended two years later, resulting in an ongoing custody battle over their first child, born in 2005 and their second child, born in 2006.[6][7]
Spears is ranked as the eighth best-selling female recording artist in the United States according to the Recording Industry Association of America with 32 million certified albums and one of the worlds best-selling music artists having sold an estimated 83 million records worldwide.[8][9]

| Chris Martin Jonny Buckland Guy Berryman Coldplay are a alternative rock band formed in London, England in 1997. The group comprises vocalist/pianist/guitarist Chris Martin, lead guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, and drummer/multi-instrumentalist Will Champion. Coldplay have sold 32.5 million albums,[1] and are also known for their hit singles, such as "Yellow", "Speed of Sound", "Viva la Vida", and the Grammy Award-winning "Clocks". Coldplay achieved worldwide fame with the release of their single "Yellow", followed by their debut album, Parachutes (2000), which was nominated for the Mercury Prize. Its follow-up, A Rush of Blood to the Head (2002), was named NME's Album of the Year. Their next release, X&Y (2005), received a generally positive reception. The band's fourth studio album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, was produced by Brian Eno and released on 17 June 2008 again to largely favourable reviews. All of Coldplay's albums have enjoyed great commercial success.[2][3] Coldplay's early material was compared to acts such as Jeff Buckley, U2, and Travis.[4] Since the release of Parachutes, Coldplay have drawn influence from other sources, including Echo and the Bunnymen,[5] Kate Bush and George Harrison[6] on A Rush of Blood to the Head, Johnny Cash and Kraftwerk for X&Y and Arcade Fire and My Bloody Valentine on Viva la Vida.[7] Coldplay have been an active supporter of various social and political causes, such as Oxfam's Make Trade Fair campaign and Amnesty International. The group have also performed at various charity projects such as Band Aid 20, Live 8, and the Teenage Cancer Trust.[8] Will Champion | |
The members of the band met at the University College London (UCL) in September 1996. Chris Martin and Jonny Buckland were the first members of the band, having met one another during their orientation week. They spent the rest of the college year planning a band, with their efforts culminating in a band called Pectoralz.[9] Later, Guy Berryman, a classmate of the two, joined the band without considering what musical direction it was taking. By 1997, the group performed gigs for local Camden promoters at small clubs. By that time, the band had renamed themselves Starfish.[10] Martin also had recruited his longtime school friend Phil Harvey, who was studying classics at Oxford, to be the band's manager.[11]
The band's lineup was complete when Will Champion joined the band to take up percussion duties. Champion had grown up playing piano, guitar, bass, and tin whistle; he quickly learned the drums, despite having no previous experience.[9] Eventually Tim Rice-Oxley, a mutual friend, permitted the band to use the name "Coldplay," which he had used for his band but then thought the name was "too depressing".[10] Rice-Oxley was also offered the position as Coldplay's keyboard player, but he refused since he was already committed to the band Keane.[10]
In 1998, the band released 500 copies of the Safety EP.[12] Most of the discs were given to record companies and friends; only 50 copies remained for sale to the public. In December, Coldplay signed to the independent label Fierce Panda.[12] Their first release was the three-track Brothers and Sisters EP, which they had quickly recorded over four days in February 1999.[12]
After completing their final examinations, Coldplay signed to Parlophone for a five-album contract in the spring of 1999.[13] After making their first appearance at Glastonbury, the band went into studio to record a third EP titled The Blue Room.[14] 5,000 copies were made available to the public in October,[15] and the single "Bigger Stronger", which received airplay on Radio 1, was establishing Coldplay. However, the recording sessions for The Blue Room were tumultuous. Martin kicked Champion out of the band but later pleaded with him to return, and because of his guilt, went on a drinking binge. Eventually, the band worked out their differences and put in place a new set of rules to keep the group intact. First, the band declared an all-for-one approach: Coldplay was a democracy, and profits were to be shared equally, taking a page from bands like U2 and R.E.M. Second, the band would fire anyone who used hard drugs.[16]

Céline Marie Claudette Dion Angelil (/seɪlɪn dɪɒn/ ), Légion d’honneur, OC, OQ (born March 30, 1968 in Charlemagne, Quebec) is a Canadian singer, and occasional songwriter and actress.[1][2][3] Born to a large, impoverished family, Dion emerged as a teen star in the French-speaking world after her manager and future husband René Angélil mortgaged his home to finance her first record.[4] In 1990 she released the anglophone album Unison, establishing herself as a viable pop artist in North America and other English-speaking areas of the world.[5]
Dion had first gained international recognition in the 1980s after she won the 1982 Yamaha World Popular Song Festival and the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest.[6][7] Following a series of French albums in the early 1980s, she signed on to Sony Records in 1986. During the 1990s, with the help of Angélil, she achieved worldwide success with several English and French albums, becoming one of the most successful artists in pop music.[8][9] However, in 1999 at the height of her success, Dion announced a temporary retirement from entertainment in order to start a family and spend time with her husband, who had been diagnosed with cancer.[10][9] She returned to the music scene in 2002 and signed a three-year (later extended to almost five years) contract to perform nightly in a five-star theatrical show at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas.[11][12]
Dion's music has been influenced by genres ranging from pop, soul, and rock to gospel and classical, and while her releases have often received mixed critical reception, she is renowned for her technically skilled and powerful vocals.[13][14][15] In 2004, after amassing 175 million in album sales, she was presented with the Chopard Diamond Award from the World Music Awards show for becoming the "Best-selling Female Artist in the World".[16][17] In April 2007 Sony BMG announced that Celine Dion had sold more than 200 million albums worldwide.[18]

Estelle was born in West London in 1980 (after which her autobiographical first single was named). She is one of eight children, born to a Sierra Leone mother and a father from Grenada. Estelle runs her own record label, Stellar Ents, and has released her own material through this - including the two "Da Heat" mixtapes Part 1 and 2, the album The 18th Day and the singles "1980", "Free" and "Go Gone". She featured on Natasha Bedingfield's song "Drop Me In The Middle" for Natasha's U.S. release of Unwritten. She also did a memorable rap verse on a 2006 Omar song, "Lay it down".
Estelle was originally on the Ill Flava Records.[1] label owned by Hip Hop award winner Karl Hinds, who together with Estelle and Joni Rewind re-released the well known Althia & Donna - 1978 track, 'Uptown Top Rankin'. Estelle also worked on various other tracks and videos with Karl Hinds and Ill Flava Records.
In 2005 Estelle revealed on the Sky Sports show Soccer AM that her birth name is actually "Fanta"[citation needed]and her favourite drink is Ribena.
In 2006, Estelle appeared at the London School Harris City Technology College for a Post 16 Year Of Achievement Night, and she could also be seen in the video for John Legend's single "Save Room". Also in 2006, Estelle joined rapper Kardinal Offishall's Black Jays International, and was eventually signed to singer John Legend's Homeschool Records through Atlantic Records.[2]
According to her official Blogspot, she had a photo-shoot on the week of July 2, 2007, for her new album.[3] Estelle has been critical of the music industry's perceived double standards of preferring white women over black women.[1]
The forthcoming album will feature production from the likes of Will.I.Am, Wyclef Jean, Mark Ronson, Cee-Lo, Swizz Beatz, and John Legend.
Kanye West also features on the album, on a track called "American Boy" which reached number one in the UK singles chart on March 23, 2008.[4] Estelle will be touring with Wyclef Jean with the tour dates soon to be announced.[5]
Recently she has got into controversy claiming racist attitudes in the U.K. music industry promote white artists over black artists performing the same style of music.[6]
In April 2008 Estelle announced a short UK tour, calling at the Manchester Ritz on the 8th June, Glasgow ABC on the 9th June, Birmingham Custard Factory on the 10th June and the Shepherds Bush Empire on the 12th June.
Estelle will perform at halftime of the 2008 MLS All-Star Game on July 24, 2008 at BMO Field in Toronto, Ontario.[7]
